GYROTONIC® Exercise Applications for Osteoporosis presented by Justine Bernard, PT, DPT, Studio Owner

  • Overview

    Justine is a Physical Therapist, GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® Exercise Master Trainer.

    We are so excited to host Justine Bernard in Melbourne, Australia for this course for the first time!

    Justine Bernard, PT, DPT received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons specializing in Neurological and Orthopedic Rehabilitation in 2003. She worked in acute rehabilitation, inpatient acute care, and outpatient rotations in several major New York City hospitals. After moving back to Washington DC, she started Elements Fitness and Wellness Center, her own orthopedic and neurologic private practice and GYROTONIC® exercise center in Glover Park. She incorporates her experiences as a professional dancer and GYROTONIC® Master Trainer into her treatments. In combining the GYROTONIC® system with her knowledge of physical therapy, people are able to transform their bodies from moving with restriction and unease to moving with freedom and joy.

    In addition to Physical Therapy and private GYROTONIC®exercise instruction, she is the Master Trainer who developed the GYROTONIC® Exercise Applications for Osteoporosis.

    Prerequisite:  GYROTONIC® level 1 certified instructor.

    Participation and completion of this course will serve as an update course for license renewal.

    In this course, GYROTONIC® trainers learn the definition, incidence and physiology of Osteoporosis and how to help clients prevent osteoporosis fractures and falls using the GYROTONIC® method. Trainers will learn how to read a bone density scan, how to recognize a client who may be at risk of developing Osteoporosis and some basic information about nutrition and medications. The course will also cover modifications of GYROTONIC® Level I exercises for clients with Osteoporosis as well as programs to help prevent bone loss and falls.

GYROTONIC® GYROTONIC® Applications for Dancers Workshop 1 and 2

  • Overview

    You do not have to be a dancer to participate, the workshop is for the dancer that resides within all of us. The workshop is extremely beneficial for those instructors that have dancers as GYROTONIC® method clients.  You do however have to be a GYROTONIC® certified instructor to participate.

    This course is credited as a level 1 GYROTONIC® update course for license renewal.

    Adrianna Thompson was here for the 3rd time to conduct both GYROTONIC® Dancers Workshop 1 and Dancers Workshop 2 in 2023.

GYROTONIC® Certified Trainer
Update

    Prerequisite – Certified level 1 GYROTONIC® trainer

    This is an update course for the continuing education of level 1 GYROTONIC® certified trainer. An update course must be taken every two years to renew certification as well as  extend the validity of the trademark license agreement for an additional 2 years.

    The course will:

    • Review foundation course exercises in depth and explain applicable applications
    • Introduction of new exercises or changes to exercises in the foundation course material
    • Focus on the individual physical improvement of the certified trainer and/or
    • Focus on the application of basic hands-on and individual application according to the needs of the client.
    • Introduce the creative series not taught in the foundation course 
    • 3 Days 15 hours (5 hours per day)

GYROTONIC® Pre-Trainer Update

    Prerequisite - Authorized Pre-trainer
    This update is required every year as part of the mandatory continuing education of the Pre Trainer in accordance with the Pre Trainer contract between Pre Trainer and GYROTONIC® Headquarters.

    This course consists of:

    • Update on possible new exercises in the pretraining exercise list as well as the foundation course exercise list.
    • Physical refinement for the pretrainer and  hands on/cueing refinement for the pretrainer
    • Update on administrative procedures
    • Update with reference to  master trainer meeting topics of the same year, including discussion of the nature of GYROTONIC® exercises.
